While there can be nothing more fun than opening up a box of
clays and getting in some wing practice with your shotgun, it can be
potentially damaging to the ears. Everyone knows the importance of proper hearing
protection while on the gun range. But sometimes mistakes happen, or we are
placed in a position where we have to fire before we can put ear plugs in. One
particular condition that afflicts many shooters is tinnitus, a fancy word for
ringing in your ears.

As an avid hunter and marksman, I have been around guns or
actively using them all my life. And for the most part, I used proper hearing
protection, either high quality ear plugs or full-ear covering noise cancelling
headphones. However, sometimes the gear does not fit properly, or someone
shoots without using proper range commands, and sure enough your ears are
ringing for days.
In my case, days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into
months and even years with the constant ringing in my ears. Sometimes the noise
would change from ringing to clicking or chirping like crickets, sometimes it
was almost like a rushing noise, but it always intensified at night. With my
body at rest and my bedroom quiet, the noise became so intense that I barely slept
more than 3 hours a night for over two years…
The exhaustion and lack of focus was affecting my
performance at work and in my relationships with my family and friends. I knew
that something had to change. I decided to get help. After visiting the doctor
and being prescribed countles drugs that did not work or caused severe
depression and anxiety to boot, things were beginning to look hopeless. I
decided to get a second opinion from an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist who
suggested SURGERY! Yikes!
But before long, a friend recommended me to Thomas Coleman’s
book Tinnitus Miracle. At first I was not sure what to think about this
book. Was it just snake oil? A rip off? But, I had tried everyting else and had
nothing to lose, so I gave it a shot. Within three days the ringing had been
reduced to a light ocean-y sound, but more importantly I was able to sleep
again! After two weeks the symptoms had almost completely disappeared!
While I still experience occasional noises once every few
months, it usually goes away in a few hours. What is more remarkable is that I
was able to cure my tinnitus without drugs or surgery, but by following a
completely all-natural lifestyle program. By doing the exercises and following
the nutritional program I was able to reclaim my life from tinnitus.
